Kristen Majocha to serve as dean of the School of Career Education for the University of Alaska Southeast

On June 15, Kristen Majocha, Ph.D., joined the University of Alaska Southeast as dean of the School of Career Education. Majocha brings more than 15 years of higher education leadership experience, most recently serving as dean of students and Title IX coordinator at I岣穒sa摹vik College. In Utqia摹vik, she worked closely with local partners, the North Slope Borough and community organizations to align programs to meet student needs.

Previously, Majocha served as senior vice chancellor for Academic Affairs at the University of Nebraska at Kearney, where she led more than 300 faculty and staff and guided rural workforce development initiatives. Earlier, as dean at California University of Pennsylvania, she oversaw major program reorganizations that maintained accreditation and academic integrity while generating more than $1 million in annual savings through a shared governance process. She also brings significant grant development experience, including multimillion-dollar leadership on USDA, TRIO and federally funded initiatives.

Majocha holds a Ph.D. and a Master of Arts in rhetoric and the philosophy of communication from Duquesne University and a Bachelor of Arts in communication from Slippery Rock University. She is a U.S. Navy veteran. Her leadership philosophy centers on collaboration, transparency and responsiveness to the people and communities she serves.
