Microsoft has recently addressed a serious vulnerability in the Internet Explorer web browser in an out-of-band (not available in Windows Update) security update. This vulnerability allows an attacker who successfully compromises the web browser to gain the same user rights as the current user, which may include the right to install software, execute programs, and may be able to examine existing files and folders.
